The house version of the National Uniformity Legislation, HR4167, was passed without a hearing and sent on to the Senate. Senate Bill, S3128, is currently in the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee awaiting action. Introduced by Senator Burr, S3128 is essentially the same as HR4167. The latest indicators are that a hearing may be scheduled the week of July 24th (this is not official). A significant portion of AFDO’s Annual Educational Conference, held last month in Albany, NY, was devoted to this issue. Included on the agenda was an open forum that included both the proponents and opponents of this proposed legislation. AFDO continues to work diligently to encourage hearings to be held on S3128. AFDO members have also had several conference calls with industry in an effort to discuss common ground and possible solutions. Please contact your Senators and strongly encourage hearings to be held on S3128. For additional information please contact Cameron Smoak at (404) 656-3627.
